The Brjuno function \(B:\mathbb{R}\backslash\mathbb{Q}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}\bigcup\{\infty\}\) is defined as \[ B(x)=-\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}\beta_{n-1}\log x_n , \] where \(\beta_{-1}=1,\,\beta_{n}=x_0\cdots x_n, \,x_{n+1}=\{x_n^{-1}\}\). The set of Brjuno numbers can be characterized as the set where \(B(x)\) is finite. In the paper a generalized Brjuno function \[ B_{\alpha,u}(x)=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}\beta_{\alpha,n-1} u(x_{\alpha,n}) \] is introduced, where \(\beta_{\alpha,-1}=1,\,\beta_{\alpha,n}=x_{\alpha,0}\cdots x_{\alpha,n}, \,\) for \(n\geq0,\) and the sequence \(x_{\alpha,n}\) is obtained by iterating the \(\alpha\)-continued function map \[ x_{\alpha,n+1}=A_{\alpha}(x_{\alpha,n}),\, n\geq0, \] where \[ A_{\alpha}(x)=|\frac{1}{x}-\lfloor\frac{1}{x}+1-\alpha\rfloor| \] and \(u(x)\) is a positive \(C^1\) function on \((0,1)\) with a singularity at \(0.\) The authors investigate the relation between the standard Brjuno function \(B_1\) (corresponding to the choice \(\alpha=1,\,\,u(x)=-\log x)\) and the Brjuno function \(B_0\) obtained by replacing the Gauss map with the by-excess continued function map (i.e. \(\alpha=0,\,\,u(x)=-\log x ). \)
