The nonautonomous dynamics \[ u_{m+1}=A_{m}u_{m},~m\in Z\tag{\(*\)} \] are considered, where \(A_{m}\) is a sequence of \(p\times p\) matrices. Using the notion of strict Lyapunov sequence introduced by the authors, the existence of a nonuniform exponential behavior of (\(*\)) is characterized completely in the form \(e^{c\rho (m)}\) for some increasing sequence \(\rho (m)\), which may correspond to infinite Lyapunov exponents, and not only the usual exponential behavior when \(\rho (m)=m\).
