    Let \(\Phi :[0,\infty )\rightarrow [ 0,\infty )\), let \(B\) be a ball in \(\mathbb{R}^{n}\) and let \(\alpha =n/p\), where \(p\in (1,\infty )\). The author studies the capacities \(\mathcal{B}_{\alpha ,\Phi }(E)=\inf \int_{B}\Phi \circ f\) and \(\mathcal{P}_{\alpha ,\Phi }(E)=\inf \left\| f\right\| _{L^{\Phi }(B)}\), where the infima are over all nonnegative functions \(f\) on \(B\)\ such that the Bessel potential \(G_{\alpha }\ast f\) majorizes \(1\) on the given subset \(E\) of \(B\), and \(\left\| \cdot \right\| _{L^{\Phi }(B)}\) denotes the Luxemburg norm. It is shown that these capacities have the same null sets when \(\Phi (t)\) has the form \(t^{p}\phi (t)\) and \(\phi \) is an increasing function satisfying certain hypotheses. This generalizes earlier work of \textit{D. R. Adams} and \textit{R. Hurri-Syrjänen} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 131, No. 4, 1159--1167 (2003; Zbl 1032.46046)], in which a more restrictive family of functions \(\Phi \) was considered.
