The author proves the existence and uniqueness of generalized solutions for the boundary value problem \[ \begin{cases}\left(-\frac{d^2}{dt^2}+A^2\right)^mu(t)+ \sum_{j=1}^mA_ju^{(m-j)}(t)=0,\quad t\in(0,+\infty),\\ u^{(\nu)}(0)=\varphi_{\nu},\quad \nu= 0,\ldots,m-1,\,\,\varphi_{\nu}\in H_{m-\nu-1/2},\end{cases} \] for the case in which the leading part has a multiple characteristic, where \(A\) is a positive definite self-adjoint operator in a separable Hilbert space \(H,\) \(A_j,\,\,j= 0,1,\dots, m\), are linear operators in \(H,\) and \(\varphi_{\nu},\, \nu= 0,\dots,m-1\) are some vectors in \(H.\)
