This is the third part of a series of papers, the second one is [the authors, Isr. J. Math. 174, 47-71 (2009; Zbl 1192.20019)]. Applying results from the first two papers, the group \(\langle X\mid R\rangle\) is studied, where \(R\) consists of \(n\)-Engel elements of the form \([A,B,\dots,B]\) (\(B\) occurs \(n\) times) in order to gain some insight into the unsolved problem of local nilpotency of \(n\)-Engel groups. A recent advance concerning this is the paper by \textit{G. Havas} and \textit{M. R. Vaughan-Lee} [Int. J. Algebra Comput. 15, No. 4, 649-682 (2005; Zbl 1087.20029)] providing the result that 4-Engel groups are indeed locally nilpotent. The present paper, however, discusses the problem from the preconception that the conjecture is false by proving that certain groups with presentation of the above form are not locally nilpotent.
