In this review, the word group denotes abelian \(p\)-group. This paper defines two new notions of transitivity for groups. A group \(G\) is called CS-transitive if whenever cyclic subgroups \(X\) and \(Y\) satisfy \(X\cong Y\) and \(G/X\cong G/Y\), there exists an automorphism \(\phi\) of \(G\) such that \(\phi(X)=Y\). \(G\) is called quotient transitive if whenever non-zero elements \(x\) and \(y\) satisfy \(G/\langle x\rangle \cong G/\langle y\rangle\), there exists an automorphism \(\phi\) of \(G\) such that \(\phi(x)=y\). The authors show that quotient transitive implies CS-transitive, and all finite groups and homocyclic groups are quotient transitive. Their main result is a classification of separable quotient transitive groups; they also present examples which demonstrate the difficulties of classifying CS-transitive groups, even in the case of direct sums of cyclic groups.
