The author proposes and analyses the method for the numerical solution of second-order quasilinear hyperbolic interface problems on two-dimensional polygonal domains. The proposed method combines a linearized fourth-step difference scheme for temporal discretization and the finite element method with quadratic elements for spatial discretization. The author formulates sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of the solution and establishes the stability result for the scheme. Furthermore, the optimal error estimate with respect to the \(L^2\)-norm is proven. Numerical experiments are presented, confirming that the experimental rates of convergence correspond to the derived theoretical convergence rate.
