    The authors study two-torsion free semi-prime rings equipped with a generalized derivation $F$ satisfying one of the following properties from some fixed positive integers $n$ and $m$: 1. $F([xn, ym])\in Z(R)$ for all $x, y\in R$. 2. $F([xm, yn])\pm [xm, yn]\in Z(R)$ for all $x, y\in R$ 3. $F(xn\cdot ym)\in Z(R)$ for all $x, y\in R$. 4. $F(xn\cdot ym)\pm xm\cdot yn\in Z(R)$ for all $x, y\in R$. 5. $[F(xn), F(ym)] = 0$ for all $x, y\in Z(R)$. 6. $F(xn)\cdot F(ym) = 0$ for all $x, y \in Z(R)$. In this article, the authors point out some errors in the paper [\textit{S. Ali} et al., Bull. Iran. Math. Soc. 45, No. 6, 1805--1819 (2019; Zbl 1423.16021)] via counter-examples. Therefore, Theorem 3.5, Corollary 3.6, Theorem 3.7, Corollary 3.8, Theorem 3.10, Theorem 3.11, and Corollaries 3.12 and 3.13 are not true. The following counterexample is presented. Example 2.1 Consider the two-torsion free semi-prime ring $R = \mathbb R[x]\times M_2(\mathbb R)$. The map defined on $R$ by $d(P(x), A) = (P'(x), 0)$, with $P'$ is the usual derivation of $P$ and 0 is the zero matrix of $M_2(\mathbb R)$, is a derivation of $R$. Moreover, $d(R)\subseteq Z(R)$.
