\textit{H. Derksen} et al. [Sel. Math., New Ser. 14, No. 1, 59--119 (2008; Zbl 1204.16008)] introduced the notion of quivers with potentials. In the paper under review instead of working with a quiver, the authors consider a tensor algebra over an \(E\)-\(E\)-bimodule \(M\), where \(F\) acts centrally and has finite dimension over \(F\). The algebra \(E\otimes_F E^{\mathrm{op}}\) is assumed to be semisimple with \(E=\prod_{i=1}^n E_i\), where each \(E_i\) is a semisimple finite-dimensional \(F\)-algebra, and each \(E_i\) has an \(F\)-basis satisfying certain conditions. The authors develop a mutation theory for potentials lying in the topological algebra \(\mathcal F_E(M)\), the \(\langle M\rangle\)-adic completion of the tensor algebra \(T_E(M)\) and prove a number of results which are analogous to main results from [loc. cit.] but in a more general setting.
