The authors establish a link between complete Lyapunov functions in dynamical systems, and Lyapunov functions for cone fields. Their results provide for the first time the existence of a smooth converse theorem for general autonomous ordinarry differential equations. Moreover, the results are advantagous for constructing a numerial method for the computation of complete Lyapunov functions.
