The author revisits the result of \textit{J. A. Baker} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 112, 729--732 (1991; Zbl 0735.39004)] concerning the stability of functional equations (in a single variable) of the form \[ f(t)=F(t,f(\phi(t))) \] where the unknown function \(f\) maps a nonempty set into a complete metric space. In this paper the usual metric is replaced by the so called (complete) JS-metric and a version of a fixed point theorem for JS-metric spaces (see \textit{M. Jleli} and \textit{B. Samet} [Fixed Point Theory Appl. 2015, Paper No. 61 (2015; Zbl 1312.54024)]) is used in the proofs of main results.
