Let \(X,Y\) be compact sets of real numbers which are the closures of their interiors. On the space \(C^{(n)}(X)\) of \(n\)~times continuously differentiable complex-valued functions, equipped with the norm \(\|f\|= \max_{x \in X}\sum_{k=0}^n \frac{|f^{(k)}(x)| }{k!} \), the authors study the structure of approximate local isometries. Recall that these are linear maps \(T\) such that for \(\epsilon >0\), \(f \in C^{(n)}(X)\), there is a surjective isometry \(T_f\) of the underlying spaces such that \(\|T(f)-T_f(f)\|< \epsilon\). This leads to the conclusion that every local isometry (\(\epsilon =0\)) \(T\) is a surjection. In the case of closed intervals, an approximate local isometry is a surjective isometry.
