The paper is devoted to the study of a numerical method for solving the integral equation \(f(y) \pm \frac 1 \pi \int_{-1}^1 \frac{\omega^{-1}}{(x-y)^2 + \omega^{-2}} f(x) dx = 1\) where, in particular, \(\omega\) is a positive real number. The challenge is that the algorithm should reliably handle the case where \(\omega^{-1}\) is close to zero. To this end, a dilation-type variable transformation is introduced in the integral. The resulting equation is then treated by a Nyström method based on a compound version of a so-called mixed quadrature formula, i.e., a quadrature formula whose weights are computed in an approximate sense by means of another quadrature formula. An error analysis in function spaces with norms based on Jacobi weight functions is provided.
