    Let $S^+_k=\{a\in \mathbb{F}^\times_q:(\frac{a+k}{q})=1\}$, $S^-_k=\{a\in \mathbb{F}^\times_q:(\frac{a+k}{q})=-1\}$, where $(\frac{a}{q})$ denotes the Legendre symbol, defined for $a\in \mathbb{F}_q$: \[ \left(\frac{a}{q}\right)= \begin{cases} 1 &\text{if $a$ is a nonzero square in $\mathbb{F}_q$} \\ -1 &\text{if $a$ is a nonsquare in $\mathbb{F}^\times_ q$} \\ 0 &\text{if $a = 0$}. \end{cases} \] In this paper under review, the author proves the following ``Wilson-like'' theorem: Theorem. Let $k\in \mathbb{F}_q$. Then \[ \prod S^+_k= \begin{cases} (-1)^{(q-1)/2}/(2k) &\text{if $k$ is a nonzero square in $\mathbb{F}_q$} \\ (-1)^{(q+1)/2}\cdot 2 &\text{if $k$ is a nonsquare in $\mathbb{F}_q$} \\ (-1)^{(q+1)/2} &\text{if $k=0$}; \end{cases} \] \[ \prod S^-_k= \begin{cases} (-1)^{(q-1)/2}\cdot 2 &\text{if $k$ is a nonzero square in $\mathbb{F}_q$} \\ (-1)^{(q+1)/2}/(2k) &\text{if $k$ is a nonsquare in $\mathbb{F}_q$} \\ (-1)^{(q-1)/2} &\text{if $k = 0$}. \end{cases} \] The proof is based on permutation properties of Dickson polynomials.
