The author considers the Neumann problem for the system of ordinary differential equations \[ (\varphi(x'))' = f(t,x,x'), \qquad x'(0) = 0,\ x'(1) = 0, \] where \(f : [0,1] \times {\mathbb R}^n \to {\mathbb R}^n\). Sufficient conditions for the existence of at least one solution of this problem are obtained for two cases: if \[ \varphi(s) = \begin{cases} \frac{\beta(|s|)}{|s|} s, & s \ne 0,\\ 0, & s = 0, \end{cases} \] where \(\beta : [0,\infty) \to [0,\infty)\), \(\beta(0) = 0\), \(\beta(\infty) = \infty\) or if \(\varphi(s_1,\ldots,s_n) = (\varphi_1(s_1),\ldots,\varphi_n(s_n))\), \[ \varphi_i(s_i) = \begin{cases} \frac{\beta_i(|s_i|)}{|s_i|}s_i, & s_i \ne 0,\\ 0, & s_i = 0, \end{cases} \] where \(\beta_i : [0,\infty) \to [0,\infty)\), \(\beta_i(0) = 0\), \(\beta_i(\infty) = \infty\), \(i=1,\ldots,n\). The results are obtained by using an extension of Mawhin's continuation theorem. The feasibility of the obtained sufficient conditions is shown in two examples.
