On a uniqueness theorem of E. B. Vul (Q2663134)

An essential part of the paper is devoted to the proof of \textit{E. B. Vul}'s uniqueness theorem on the cosine transform [``Uniqueness theorems for a certain class of functions represented by integrals'', Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 129, 722--725 (1959)]. Furthermore, the author uses this result to give a relatively elementary proof of a sufficient condition for the completeness of polynomials in \( C_0(W)=\{u\in C(\mathbb{R})|\lim_{t\to\infty}u(t)/W(t)=0\}. \) One part of this condition is more stringent, another part is weaker than the condition from \textit{M. Sodin} [J. Anal. Math. 69, 293--309 (1996; Zbl 0867.41009)].
