In this paper, first, a systematic framework for the linear quaternion-valued systems (QVS) is established. Secondly, the controllability, observability, minimum norm control and duality theorem of linear QVS are fully investigated, and some valid criteria for controllability and observability are derived, respectively. Moreover, some comparisons with linear real-valued systems are also presented. Finally, the author(s) proposed a modified Popov-Belevitch-Hautus (PBH) type necessary condition for the controllability and observability of linear QVS, respectively.
