The authors show that if \(Z\) is a metacompact subspace of a GO-space \(X\) and \(\mathcal{U}\) is an open cover of \(Z\) in \(X\), then there exists a partial refinement \(\mathcal{V}\) of \(\mathcal{U}\) which is an open cover in \(X\) of \(Z\) and is point-finite. It follows that \(Y\) is a metacompact subspace of a GO-space \(X\) if and only if every subspace of \(Y\) is metacompact in \(X\). The authors define monotonically metacompact spaces and point out that the union of two monotonically metacompact subspaces of a topological space \(X\) need not be monotonically metacompact. They consider whether this situation remains if \(X\) is a GO-space, and show that if a GO-space \(X\) is a finite union of monotonically metacompact subspaces, then it is monotonically metacompact. The authors show that a perfect image of a GO-space is a \(D\)-space if it is a countable union of \(D\)-spaces. Also, the authors point out and correct an error in the proof of Theorem~10 of \textit{L.-X. Peng} and \textit{L.-J. Wang} [Topology Appl. 245, 1--20 (2018; Zbl 1398.54043)].
