The main result of the paper is the following. Let \(M\) be an orientable Seifert-fibered space which fibers over a hyperbolic base 2-orbifold \(\mathcal O\), and let \(\bar \gamma\) be a link in \(M\) which projects injectively to a \textit{filling geodesic multicurve} \(\gamma\) in \(\mathcal O\) (i.e., \(\gamma\) separates \(\mathcal O\) into disks); then the complement of \(\bar \gamma\) in \(M\) is a hyperbolic 3-manifold of finite volume. This generalizes and elaborates on results by [\textit{P. Foulon} and \textit{B. Hasselblatt}, Geom. Topol. 17, No. 2, 1225--1252 (2013; Zbl 1277.37057)] who considered the case of the canonical lift \(\bar \gamma = (\gamma, \dot \gamma)\) of a closed geodesic \(\gamma\) on a hyperbolic surface to the projective unit tangent bundle of the surface: the complement of \(\bar \gamma\) is hyperbolic if and only if \(\gamma\) is filling. The present authors obtain also combinatorial lower bounds for the hyperbolic volume of the complement of a link \(\bar \gamma\) as before which generalize results of the second author [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 102, No. 2, 695--721 (2020; Zbl 07288973)].
