\textit{M. Herschend} et al. [J. Algebra 570, 531--586 (2021; Zbl 1506.18015)] introduced the notion of \(n\)-exangulated categories. It is a higher dimensional analogue of extriangulated categories defined by \textit{H. Nakaoka} and \textit{Y. Palu} [Cah. Topol. Géom. Différ. Catég. 60, No. 2, 117--193 (2019; Zbl 1451.18021)]. Furthermore, it gives a simultaneous generalization of \(n\)-exact categories in the sense of \textit{G. Jasso} [Math. Z. 283, No. 3--4, 703--759 (2016; Zbl 1356.18005)] and \((n+2)\)-angulated categories in the sense of \textit{C. Geiss} et al. [J. Reine Angew. Math. 675, 101--120 (2013; Zbl 1271.18013)]. Let \(\mathcal{C}\) be an \(n\)-exangulated category with enough projectives and enough injectives. In this paper under review, the authors define cluster tilting subcategories of \(n\)-exangulated categories and prove two results. Assume that \(\mathcal{X}\) is a cluster tilting subcategory of \(\mathcal{C}\). They first prove that the quotient category \(\mathcal{C}/\mathcal{X}\) is \(n\)-abelian, then prove that the quotient is equivalent to an \(n\)-cluster tilting subcategory of an abelian category with enough projectives. These results generalize the work of \textit{K. M. Jacobsen} and \textit{P. Jørgensen} [J. Algebra 521, 114--136 (2019; Zbl 1407.18010)] and \textit{P. Zhou} and \textit{B. Zhu} [J. Algebra 527, 264--279 (2019; Zbl 1470.18020)] for \((n+2)\)-angulated categories. Moreover, it highlights new phenomena when it is applied to \(n\)-exact categories. The authors also give an example to show that the assumption that \(\mathcal{C}\) has enough projectives and enough injectives is necessary. The proof of the first result is a higher analogue of the version of extriangulated categories [\textit{J. He} and \textit{P. Zhou}, Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Math. Sci. 129, No. 4, Paper No. 61, 11 p. (2019; Zbl 1423.18042)]. The proof of the second result follows from the fact that the quotient \(\mathcal{C}/\mathcal{X}\) is projectively generated [\textit{S. Kvamme}, ``Projectively generated \(d\)-abelian categories are \(d\)-cluster tilting'', Preprint, \url{arXiv: 1608.07985}].
