The cube recurrence is a discrete dynamical system that has been studied under two different guises. It was shown by \textit{T. Miwa} [Proc. Japan Acad., Ser. A 58, 9--12 (1982; Zbl 0508.39009)] that the \(\tau\)-function of the BKP hierarchy satisfies a certain recurrence relation which has been extensively studied afterwards. The same recurrence relation was introduced by \textit{J. Propp} [in: Discrete models: combinatorics, computation, and geometry. Proceedings of the 1st international conference (DM-CCG), Paris, France, July 2--5, 2001. Paris: Maison de l'Informatique et des Mathématiques Discrètes (MIMD). 43--58 (2001; Zbl 0990.05020)] under the name cube recurrence and was studied from the point of view of algebraic combinatorics. Zamolodchikov periodicity is a property of \(T\)-and \(Y\)-systems, arising in the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz. Zamolodchikov integrability was recently considered as its affine analog in the joint work of the author with \textit{P. Pylyavskyy} [Math. Z. 295, No. 3--4, 945--992 (2020; Zbl 1451.13067)]. In this paper the author proves periodicity and integrability for similar discrete dynamical systems based on the cube recurrence, also known as the discrete BKP equation. The periodicity part was conjectured by \textit{A. Henriques} [J. Algebr. Comb. 26, No. 1, 1--26 (2007; Zbl 1125.05106)]. The author shows that the cube recurrence in a triangle is periodic which has been conjectured by Henriques [loc. cit.]. Next, for the cube recurrence in a cylinder, he shows that the values at every vertex satisfy a linear recurrence. He also gives a combinatorial formula for the recurrence coefficients in terms of groves introduced by \textit{G. D. Carroll} and \textit{D. Speyer} [Electron. J. Comb. 11, No. 1, Research paper R73, 31 p. (2004; Zbl 1060.05004)]. Finally, he shows that the cube recurrence in a torus has zero algebraic entropy and its degrees grow quadratically. Both of these facts follow immediately from the results of [loc. cit.].
