    The aim of the paper is to investigate how the presence of defects, i.e., the breaking of the symmetric structure of the two-dimensional square grid caused by the removal of finitely or infinitely many edges, may affect both the Sobolev inequalities supported by the resulting graph and the existence of the NLSE ground states. The authors classify which types of defects yield a persistence of these properties and which are not.
