In this manuscript, the authors develop an interesting tool for visually describing transient scenarios in Hamiltonian systems. The work starts with a good contextualization and exposition of the mathematical tooling used along the paper, after which two systems, namely the single-null divertor tokamak and the Earth-Moon, are comprehensively studied. It is emphasized that the method developed can also be used for discrete and continuous-time systems, given the construction of a Poincaré map. The paper is well written, with clear cut sentences and written in a very pedagogic way.
