The article addresses a large class of vector optimization problems in infinite-dimensional spaces with respect to two important binary relations derived from domination structures. Motivated by theoretical challenges and by applications to certain models from behavioral sciences, the authors establish a new variational principle, which can be viewed as a far-going extension of the Ekeland variational principle, and which covers the domination vector settings. The used approach combines the advantages of both primal and dual techniques in variational analysis, and provides useful sufficient conditions for the existence of variational traps in behavioral science models with variable domination structures.
