The paper investigates the effects of a magnetic field on the stagnation point flow of the non-Newtonian Reiner-Rivlin fluid. In particular it deals with the boundary value problem \[ \begin{cases} f'''(x)+f(x)f''(x)+1-f'^2(x)+2Lf''^2(x)-M^2(f'(x)-1)=0, \\ f(0)=0,\, f'(0)=0,\, \displaystyle \lim_{x\to \infty}f'(x)=1, \end{cases} \] where \(L\) is the non-Newtonian parameter and \(M\) is the so called Hartmann number. The existence and uniqueness of solution is proved by means of a shooting argument that also provides additional qualitative properties of the solution. Some illustrative numerical results are obtained too.
