Singularities of varieties can be studied by assigning a so-called characteristic class to them. Such a characteristic class is an element of the cohomology ring of an ambient variety, and carries information about the singular variety, as well as on the embedding. The most natural characteristic class is the so-called fundamental class. Fundamental classes exist both in cohomology and \(K\)-theory, and have a plethora of applications in algebraic and enumerative geometry. Both in cohomology and in \(K\)-theory there exists a one-parameter deformation of the fundamental class concept. They are called Chern-Schwartz-MacPherson (CSM) class in cohomology and Motivic Chern (MC) class (invented by Brasselet-Schurmann-Yokura) in \(K\)-theory. Motivated by relations to representation theory, Okounkov and his coauthors defined the concept of Stable Envelope (Stab). Stabs exist in cohomology, \(K\)-theory, and elliptic cohomology (in increasing generality). It turned out that the theory of cohomological and \(K\)-theoretic Stabs overlap with the theory of CSM and MC classes. This development suggested that certain structures that exist for \(K\)-theory Stabs should exist for the Motivic Chern class. In particular, the \(K\)-theoretic Stabs depend on a ``slope'' parameter. The paper under review finds the general definition of ``twisted'' Motivic Chern class, where the twisting corresponds to the ``slope''-twisting of \(K\)-theory Stabs. To achieve that, the authors build on and generalize the construction of Brasselet-Schurmann-Yokura, and utilize the theory of multiplier ideals. They show that their twisted Motivic Chern class is indeed the right notion, by relating it to elliptic characteristic classes, where the ``twisting'' parameters cannot by avoided, and where the dependence on them is meromorphic. Another key results of the paper proves that the newly defined twisted Motivic Chern classes satisfy properties (axioms) analogous to the defining axioms of \(K\)-theory Stabs.
