Let \(\mathcal M\) be a compact convex domain in the real projective plane and denote by \(\partial\mathcal{M}\) the boundary of \(\mathcal M\). Furthermore, suppose that there exists a continuous bounded function \(\delta\colon\partial M\times \partial M \to \mathbb{R}_{+}\) satisfying the \textit{quadrangle inequality} for any convex non-degenerate quadrangle \(\Box(P,Q,R,S)\) inscribed in \(\partial M\), that is, \[ \delta(P, R) + \delta(Q, S) - \delta(P, S) - \delta(Q, R) \geq 0 . \] The main result of the paper (Theorem 3.1) states that under these assumptions the given function \(\delta\) extends to a projective metric \(d \colon \mathcal{M}\times {M} \to \mathbb{R}_+\). Furthermore, it is shown that the projective metric \(d\) is unique (Theorem 4.1). The authors address this uniqueness as the \textit{boundary-rigidity} of the projective metric. Finally, some other rigidity results are established (e.g. results related with the generalised \(X\)-ray transform).
