The book gives an excellent introduction into differential equations and their applications in population dynamics. The first part concentrates on linear differential and difference equations, while the second part handles nonlinear systems. Both parts introduce the important notions and theorems of the area and the theoretical parts are richly illustrated by applications including the most famous and also some lesser known models of population dynamics. An important novelty of the book in comparison with other introductory works on the topic is the inclusion of the third part, which consists of various problems regarding the most recent epidemic threat, namely the COVID-19 pandemic. The chapters of this part are based on recently appeared papers of the authors and they provide insight into the latest developments in the applications of dynamical systems to real epidemiological phenomena and convincingly show to the reader the applicability of these methods in this area of vital importance.
