The authors describe the behavior of a planar woven fabric in the framework of continuous deformable surfaces. The elongation, the bending deformations and the impenetrability of two orthogonal families of interwoven fibers are considered. The Rayleigh functional is introduced to model the relative slipping together with rotation between fibers. The arisen effect of friction dissipation is investigated through numerical simulations.
