Homogeneous Sylvester equations of lower triangular matrices (Q2676740)

The author studies the homogeneous Sylvester equation \(AX = XB\) on the Lie group of lower triangular matrices with ones along the diagonal. He presents a relatively simple necessary and sufficient condition for its solvability. Additionally, he proves that the solution set is closed under the geometric mean operation given by \(A\#B = A^{1/2} (A^{-1/2} B A^{-1/2} )^{1/2} A^{1/2}\).
