\textit{H. Bass} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 110, No. 2, 315--318 (1990; Zbl 0744.13006)] considers a commutative \(K\)-algebra \(A\) over a commutative ring \(K\) and makes a question when the existence of an injective \(K\)-algebra homomorphism of \(A\) onto \(A/J\), where \(J\) is an ideal of \(A\), would force \(J =0\). In a previous work \textit{A. R. Chekhlov} et al. [Arch. Math. 117, No. 6, 593--600 (2021; Zbl 1497.20058)] the authors of the present paper consider this type of problem in the context of abelian groups. Namely, they define, that an abelian group \(G\) is Bassian if the existence of an injective group homomorphism of \(G\) onto \(G/N\) for some subgroup \(N\) of \(G\), implies \(N =0\). In the same paper they obtain necessary and sufficient conditions the abelian group \(G\) to be Bassian.\par The authors give also the following main definition. An abelian group \(G\) owns a generalized Bassian property (or that \(G\) is generalized Bassian) if the existence of an injective homomorphism of \(G\) onto \(G/H\), for some subgroup \(H\) of \(G\), forces \(H\) to be a direct summand of \(G\). \par In this paper the authors obtain necessary and sufficient conditions the torsion abelian group \(T\) to be a generalized Bassian (Theorem 2.10). They consider two classes of abelian groups and give sufficient conditions and necessary and sufficient conditions, respectively, the representative of these classes to be generalized Bassian (Theorems 3.6 and 3.10, respectively).
