When A. L. S. Corner died in 2006, he left several handwritten unsubmitted papers on abelian group and module theory. The authors of this paper deserve our gratitude for editing and publishing some of these important works. The paper published here concerns modules over the \(p\)-adic integers and in particular describes pairs of such modules whose endomorphism algebras are anti-isomorphic. The problem was probably triggered by the intriguing fact that the \(p\)-adic integers themselves and the quasi-cyclic \(p\)-adic module \(\mathbb{Z}(p^\infty)\) have isomorphic commutative endomorphism algebras. Corner's result presents necessary conditions for a pair of \(p\)-adic modules to have anti-isomorphic endomorphism algebras. The authors exploit recent results in abelian group theory to present also a sufficient condition.
