    The paper deals with boundary-value problems for a nonlinear elliptic equation with a small parameter \[ \begin{cases} \varepsilon^2\Delta u-f(\varepsilon\nabla u,u,x)=0, & x\in D\subset\mathbb R^N,\\ u(x,\varepsilon)=g(x), & x\in \partial\Omega, \end{cases} \] with smooth \(\partial\Omega\), \(f\) and \(g\), and where \(f\) grows at most quadratically with respect to \(\nabla u\). The author proves existence of a solution with a boundary layer and its Lyapunov stability.
