The authors provide a new proof of the Ginchev, Guerragio, and Rocca conjecture that if a function \(f\) is \(n-1\) times Peano differentiable and the generalized Riemann derivatives of \(f\) exist for \(0\leq k\leq n-1\) at at point then \(f\) is \(n\)-times differentiable at that point. The proof is based on induction and the use of difference operators and recursively defined polynomials. A proof of a variant of the conjecture (replacing the bounds for \(k\) by \(-(n-2)\leq k\leq 0\)) as well as an overview of existing results and proofs are also provided.
