The authors examine a linear system of two transport PDEs in the unit interval and investigate feedback controls of boundary type at two boundary points. They study the (de-)stabilizing effects of the zero equilibrium induced by time-delayed output feedback and viscosity. The method involves a careful analysis of the associated characteristic equations. The results are threefold: stabilizing effects without robustness induced by time-delayed output feedback, stabilizing effects with semicontinuous dependence of spectra with respect to viscosity perturbations, and an example with viscosity that demonstrates destabilizing effects with more complex boundary controls.
