The paper is devoted to the boundary value problem for the second-order differential-operator equation \[ \left\{\begin{array}{l} -u''(x)+Au(x)=\lambda u(x),\,\,\,x\in (0,1),\text{ in }H,\\ u'(0)+(\alpha_0+\alpha_1\lambda+\alpha_2\lambda^2)u(0)=0,\quad u(1)=0, \end{array}\right.\tag{1} \] where \(H\) is a separable Hilbert space, \(\lambda\) is the spectral parameter, \(A\) is a linear unbounded self-adjoint positive definite operator in \(H\) with its inverse \(A^{-1}\) completely continuous, and \(\alpha_i\in\mathbb{R}\), \(i=0,1,2\) satisfy the conditions \(\alpha_0<0\), \(\alpha_2>0\) and \(\alpha_1\not=0\). The authors prove that the eigenvalues of problem \((1)\) are real, and then they study the asymptotic behavior of these eigenvalues.
