This work is an extension of a well-known result of \textit{C.~Schmoeger} [Demonstr. Math. 31, No.~4, 723--733 (1998; Zbl 0924.47008)] published in 1998. The authors show that if for \(a\in{\mathscr A}\), where \({\mathscr A}\) is a semisimple Banach algebra with identity, and \(g\) an analytic function on a neighbourhood of the spectrum of \(a\) such that \(g\) has no zero in the generalized Fredholm spectrum of \(a\), then \(g(a)\) is a generalized Fredholm element in \({\mathscr A}\). They also show a result similar to the well-known spectral mapping property that \(g(a)\in{\mathscr A}^{-1}\) when \(a\in{\mathscr A}\) and \(g\in \mathrm{Hol}(a)\) having no zero in \(\sigma_{\mathscr A}(a)\).
