A function \(f:X \rightarrow X\) gives a topology \(\tau_f\) on \(X\) by taking \(U\) to be open if \(f^{-1}(U) \subseteq U\), or equivalently, by taking \(F\) to be closed if \(f(F) \subseteq F\). Such topologies are called primal. This paper investigates primal topologies arising from linear transformations \(T: \mathbb{R}^n \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^n\). Among other results, they show that similar matrices produce homeomorphic primal topologies, and a linear transformation \(T: \mathbb{R}^n \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^n\) is invertible if and only if \(T(\mathbb{R}^n)\) is open in \(\tau_T\).
