One of the most math fascinating and interesting math questions is the dynamical stability of the round sphere under extrinsic geometric flows. The convex stability of round spheres in Mean Curvature Flow (was established by Gage-Hamilton and Huiskens. In this paper, the author considers the Inverse Mean Curvature Flow (IMCF) of a non-star-shaped, mean-convex embedded sphere and, under suitable conditions, proves the homothetically convergence to a round sphere by using a localized version of the parabolic maximum principle. The authors gives also two important applications of this result: an extension of the Minkowski inequality to the corresponding non-star-shaped, mean-convex and an intriguing connection between IMCF and minimal surface theory.
