In this interesting paper, the authors study \(C^1\)-regularity of minimizers of integral functionals of the Calculus of Variations with widely degenerate convex integrands of the form \[ F(u) := \int_{\Omega} [F(Du) + f\cdot u ]dx, \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain and u is a possibly vector valued function. The authors concentrate themselves on the study of the prototype integrand \[ F(\xi) := \frac1p (|\xi|- 1)^p_+ \] for some \(p>1\). In the scalar case, this equation models the congestion effect of the traffic flow. The authors extend previous results of Santambrogio and Vespri and Colombo and Figalli to the vectorial case.
