Finite volume relaxation schemes for multidimensional conservation laws (English)
0 references
The authors investigate the convergence of numerical approximations based on relaxation systems of scalar multidimensional conservation laws. The mathematical analysis of those relaxation systems was achieved by \textit{M. A. Katsoulakis} and \textit{A. E. Tzavaras} [Commun. Partial Differ. Equations 22, No. 1-2, 195-233 (1997; Zbl 0884.35093)]. Here the authors consider a semi-discrete (i.e. discrete in space and continuous in time) approximation of the relaxation system, by means of a monotone finite volume scheme. The convergence to the entropy solution of the original conservation law is proved, with rate of convergence \(h^{1/4}\). A similar result is stated for the fully discrete scheme. The reader is referred to a forthcoming paper (same authors) for the proof.
