The author shows what and how one should do with SQL statements and with Oracle databases to improve performance of Oracle applications. He starts with explanations of purpose of SQL tuning and describes important topics and tools connected with tuning SQL. He presents methods of tuning for various types of SQL statements and for specific circumstances. The author discusses ways of improving of data models and of the design of applications. Methods of Oracle server configuration monitoring and tuning are explored too.
