This paper is a result of a number of lectures given by the author at Trondheim, Leeds and Toronto.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEUnder the Chapter headings: Introduction, Local to global, Increase in dimension, Commutative to noncommutative, Linear to nonlinear, Homology theory, \(K\)-theory, Lie groups and Impact of physics, a listing of new, most important achievements, with very concise commentaries, has been given. The stimulative areas of 20th century physics, and some applications of mathematics to it, proves how these two sciences are tightly connected.
