The normalization of eigenfunctions of the continuous spectrum of a three-dimensional periodic lightguide (English)

For describing a dielectric periodic lightguide in \(\mathbb R^3\), the stationary Maxwell equation is employed together with the conjugation conditions on the interface. The author studies the spectral problem for the mathematical model obtained. Asymptotic formulas for eigenfunctions of the continuous spectrum of the problem are deduced. The author defines the indefinite scalar product for the solutions; moreover, this product is calculated for eigenfunctions of the continuous spectrum for arbitrary intervals of the spectrum. The result is presented in terms of asymptotic coefficients of eigenfunctions and the Dirac delta-function.
