Basic course Java. An introduction to object-oriented programming with examples and exercises (English)

``Grundkurs Java'' (Basic course Java) is a compact and thereby at some places somewhat tight introduction to programming with the Java language. It already is the second edition and now treats Java 2 with the Swing classes for building graphical user interfaces.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe many programming examples are instructive and well suited to lead the reader up to the practical work with Java. The book is an useful support for students and for teachers at a basic Java course. This impression is underlined through many exercises at the end of each chapter. On the author's web site (\url{http://www08.mg.fh-niederrhein.de/dozenten/abts/buch.htm}) there are completions to the book as well as the source code of the examples and the solutions to the exercises. For reasons of ease I would have preferred the solutions to the exercises as part of the text. But all things considered the well structured and carefully written book is a recommendable introduction to programming with the Java language.
