In [Moduli of decorated swamps on a smooth projective curve, Int. J. Math. 26, No. 10, Article ID 1550086, 29 p. (2015; Zbl 1329.14072)], the author of the paper under review constructed the moduli space of decorated swamps on a smooth projective complex curve \(X\). A decorated swamp is a vector bundle \(E\) over \(X\) together with global and local extra structure. More precisely, it is a tuple \((E, L, \varphi, s)\) where \(E\) is a rank \(r\) vector bundle on \(X\), \(L\) is a line bundle on \(X\), \(\varphi:E_\rho\to L\) is a non-trivial homomorphism and \(s\) is a point in \(E^\vee_\sigma|_{\{x_0\}}\), where \(\rho:\mathrm{GL}(r)\to V_1\) and \(\sigma:\mathrm{GL}(r)\to V_2\) are given homogeneous representations, and \(E_\rho\) and \(E_\sigma\) are the corresponding vector bundles. The stability for such objects depends on two positive rational parameters \(\delta_1,\delta_2\), and for each pair of these there is a corresponding moduli space. In this paper, the author considers parabolic Hitchin pairs over \(X\). These are a generalisation of parabolic Higgs bundles, for which the moduli space is projective (which is not the case for parabolic Higgs bundles). They are defined as tuples \((E,\varphi,\epsilon,V_\bullet)\), where \((E,\varphi,V_\bullet)\) is a parabolic Higgs bundle on \(X\) and \(\epsilon\in\mathbb{C}\) such that \(\varphi\neq 0\) or \(\epsilon\neq 0\). For each such parabolic Hitchin pair, the author shows how to construct an associated decorated swamp and from this shows that the moduli space of \(\delta_1\)-(semi)stable Hitchin pairs can be realised as a subscheme of the moduli space of \((\delta_1,\delta_2)\)-(semi)stable decorated swamps over \(X\). Then it is introduced the notion of asymptotic \(\delta_2\)-stability for decorated swamps, to study stability when \(\delta_1\) goes to infinity. It is proved that there is a constant \(\Delta\) such that asymptotic \(\delta_2\)-stability is equivalent to \((\delta_1,\delta_2)\)-stability whenever \(\delta_1\geq \Delta\). This implies that the class of all decorated swamps which are \((\delta_1,\delta_2)\)-semistable for any \(\delta_1\) is bounded. Finally the author proves that asymptotic stability of decorated swamps gives rise to the usual stability (parameter free) condition for parabolic Higgs bundles, so that the usual moduli space of stable parabolic Hitchin pairs is a closed subscheme of the moduli space of asymptotically stable decorated swamps.
