\textit{L.~Muracchini} [Boll. Unione Mat. Ital., III. Ser.~7, 123-131 (1952; Zbl 0047.40803)] introduced the notion of the characteristic plane and characteristic surface for the point correspondences between two three-dimensional projective spaces. The author discusses the notion of the characteristic \(m\)-plane of point correspondence between two \(n\)-dimensional projective spaces, where \(n\geq 3\) and \(1\leq m\leq n-1\). Various criteria are established for the characteristic \(m\)-planes and their distributions.
