The authors consider \(d\)-dimensional gravity-capillary waves of an incompressible inviscid fluid with a general bottom. The free surface is given by \(\{ (t,x,y)\in\mathbb {R}\times\mathbb{R}^d \times\mathbb{R};\;y=\eta (t,x)\}\). Considering an irrotational fluid beneath the surface, one needs to determine the elevation \(\eta (t,x)\) and the potential \(\phi (t,x,y)\) of the flow. It is known that one may consider the trace \(\psi (t,x)=\phi (t,x,\eta (t,x))\) intead of the potential \(\phi (t,x,y)\) itself. Then one needs to solve the Zakharov-Craig-Sulem system for \(\eta (t,x),\psi (t,x)\). Therefore the main problem is to prove a local existence of the solutions for this system with initial values \(\eta (0,x),\psi (0,x))\in H^{s+\frac{1}{2}}\times H^s\). This problem is widely studied, but there is a threshold of the regularity order at \(s=(4+d)/2\). Little is known if \(s<(4+d)/2\), and in particular if the velocity is non-Lipschitzian up to the free surface. The authors prove a local existence of the solutions to the Zakharov-Craig-Sulem system for the latter case and for arbitrary dimensions. For this purpose, they reduce the Zakharov-Craig-Sulem system to a paradifferential equation, for which they prove a Strichartz inequality. They also gives an existence result of the corresponding solution for the Zakharov-Craig-Sulem with non-Lipschitzian velocity.
