For any convex body \(K\) in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and any unit vector \(u \in \mathbb{S}^{n-1}\), let \(V_{n-1}(K|u^{\perp})\) denote the \((n-1)\)-dimensional volume of the orthogonal projection of \(K\) to a hyperplane perpendicular to \(u\). Furthermore, let \(V_n(K)\) denote the \(n\)-dimensional volume of \(K\). \textit{G. C. Shephard}'s problem [Isr. J. Math. 2, 229--236 (1964; Zbl 0132.17304)] asks the following: If \(K\) and \(L\) are centrally symmetric convex bodies in \(\mathbb{R}^n\), and for any unit vector \(u \in \mathbb{S}^{n-1}\) we have \(V_{n-1}(K|u^{\perp}) \geq V_{n-1}(L|u^{\perp})\), is it true that \(V_n(K) \geq V_n(L)\)? \textit{C. M. Petty} [in: Proc. Colloq. Convexity, Copenhagen 1965, 234--241 (1967; Zbl 0152.20601)] and \textit{R. Schneider} [Math. Z. 101, 71--82 (1967; Zbl 0173.24703)] proved that the answer to this question is affirmative if \(n=2\), and negative if \(n \geq 3\). Zhang asked if a double cone and a ball in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) gives an explicit counterexample to the Shephard Problem in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) for any \(n \geq 3\). The authors prove that this is indeed true.
