Let \(T\) be an algebraic torus over an algebraically closed field \(k\). A \(T\)-linear scheme is defined to be a scheme (separated, of finite type) over \(k\) endowed with an algebraic action of \(T\) which is (equivariantly) linear in the sense of \textit{U. Jannsen} [Mixed motives and algebraic K-theory. (Almost unchanged version of the author's habilitation at Univ. Regensburg 1988). Berlin etc.: Springer-Verlag (1990; Zbl 0691.14001)]. Spherical varieties and Schubert varieties are shown to be \(T\)-linear schemes.NEWLINENEWLINEHere the notion of equivariant operational Chow ring of a \(T\)-scheme, as defined by \textit{D. Edidin} and \textit{W. Graham} [Invent. Math. 131, No. 3, 595--644 (1998; Zbl 0940.14003)] following W.~Fulton and R.~MacPherson, is considered. The author provides in this equvariant setting what \textit{W. Fulton} et al. [J. Algebr. Geom. 4, No. 1, 181--193 (1995; Zbl 0819.14019)] provided for non-equivariant operational Chow rings of complete spherical varieties and B.~Totaro generalized to complete linear schemes: a combinatorial description of the ring and the proof that in the nonsingular case the cycle map yields an isomorphism with the cohomology ring. For possibly singular complete \(T\)-linear schemes he obtains a localization theorem that does not depend on resolution of singularities.NEWLINENEWLINEIn the case of possibly singular complete spherical varieties in characteristic zero admitting an equivariant smooth envelope, he gives a combinatorial presentation of the equivariant operational Chow ring in terms of \(T\)-fixed points, generalizing a result of \textit{M. Brion} [Transform. Groups 2, No. 3, 225--267 (1997; Zbl 0916.14003)] in the nonsingular case.
